Betts Wins 10 Player Major Modifed State
Betts, managed by Don Cummings, of the Warren Modified Pitch League held on to defeat Bonnell's Steel City of Erie, PA, managed by Scott Baldi, 8 - 7, to win the 10 Player Major Modified Pitch State Championship Tournament at the Lincoln Avenue Field Complex in Meadville, PA on, July 6 - 7, 2002.


Earlier in June, Bonnell's had come out of the loser's bracket to win their second consecutive 9 Player Major Modified Pitch State Championship Tournament in Lancaster, PA. They were forced to come of the loser's bracket to defeat Betts in the first game of the final championship series in the 10 Player Major State Tournament but Betts held on in the final game to turn a stunning double play to end the bottom of the seventh inning and the game for the title.
